The short answer: eBay already offers Price + Shipping: lowest first. Use it. Then check the cases where the displayed shipping amount or the result set may not support a complete all-in comparison.
AuctionMapper lets you browse eBay categories and compare current listings in separate item-price, reported-shipping, and displayed-total columns when eBay supplies a numeric shipping amount.
Run a live search, narrow to the right category, then compare item price and shipping together.
This is an eBay feature, not an AuctionMapper-only feature. eBay's own price-shopping page explicitly recommends the sort when sellers do not offer free shipping.
Read eBay's price-shopping guidance (external site)These are limits to verify, not proof that the sort fails on every search.
User-reported pattern
Some buyers have reported that choosing the lowest-price sort produced a smaller, “streamlined” set of listings. This does not establish that every search is affected. Compare the result count with Best Match, look for a See more results control, and repeat the search before treating the first page as complete.
Documented behavior
eBay says calculated shipping depends on the buyer's location as well as the package and delivery service. Confirm the delivery destination before comparing totals. If the result says Calculated without a number, open the listing for the amount that applies to you.
Practical verification
A sort can only add a usable shipping amount when one is available. For freight, local-pickup, or “contact seller” arrangements, inspect the listing's shipping section and get any required quote. Do not silently count an unknown charge as zero.
Documented checkout behavior
“Price + Shipping” is not labeled as an all-in checkout total. eBay says tax can depend on the item and delivery address, and applicable US sales tax may be added at checkout. International orders can also involve VAT, duties, or import charges.
Shipping can reverse the order you would get from the sticker price alone:
| Listing | Item | Shipping | Price + shipping |
|---|---|---|---|
| Listing A | $120 | $40 | $160 |
| Listing B | $145 | $0 | $145 |
Lowest item price favors A. Price plus shipping correctly favors B by $15. Applicable tax and other checkout charges still need to be considered, but this is exactly the comparison eBay's native sort is meant to improve.
For this guide, total price means item price plus the shipping amount shown for the listing. Landed cost is broader: it can include applicable tax, duties, import charges, or another order-specific fee.
eBay says taxes vary based on factors including the item, order price, and delivery address. For many US purchases, applicable sales tax is collected in the order total at checkout. That makes checkout the final verification point.
The calculator is an estimate, not a promise of eBay's checkout total.
AuctionMapper exposes the item price, available shipping amount, and their sum in separate columns. You can sort the returned listings by the Total column while keeping category-specific filters visible.
Same underlying limit: if eBay's result data says shipping is calculated but does not provide a numeric amount, AuctionMapper labels it Calculated. Its displayed sum should not be treated as the final delivered cost. Tax is not included in the Total column.
The benefit is a transparent comparison surface, not a claim that AuctionMapper knows a charge eBay has not supplied.
Yes. After running a search, open the Sort menu and choose Price + Shipping: lowest first. eBay documents that option on its price-shopping guide.
The sort label covers price plus shipping, not tax. eBay says applicable tax depends on factors including the item, order price, and delivery address, and for many US purchases it is added to the order total at checkout.
Buyers have reported searches where the lowest-price sort showed a smaller or streamlined result set. That is not guaranteed to happen on every search. Compare the result count with Best Match, look for a See more results control, and rerun the search before assuming the first sorted page is exhaustive.
Set or confirm the delivery destination, then open the listing and verify the shipping amount. eBay documents that calculated shipping varies with the buyer's location and package details, so a result without a numeric shipping value is not a final total.
No. AuctionMapper's Total column adds the item price and numeric shipping amount available in eBay's result data. It does not turn an unknown calculated or freight charge into a known amount, and it does not include checkout tax. Landed cost can also include tax, duties, or other order-specific charges.
