What is AuctionMapper?

AuctionMapper is a free eBay search tool that lets you browse all 20,000+ eBay categories without typing a keyword. It adds features eBay search doesn't have: a browsable category tree, category-specific filters, total-cost sorting (price + shipping), and a local-pickup option. It searches eBay's live inventory via the official Browse API. Founded in 2006.

What does AuctionMapper do that eBay search doesn't?

Five things:

  1. Browse any of eBay's 20,000+ categories without entering a search term.
  2. See a dynamic category tree that trims to show only categories with results.
  3. Get filters that change by category — dial color and reference number for watches, CFM rating and barrel count for carburetors, seat size for saddles, scale and era for diecast models.
  4. Sort by total cost (price + shipping combined).
  5. Filter for local-pickup listings (see our dedicated eBay search by zip code distance guide for the full distance workflow).

What categories does AuctionMapper cover?

Everything eBay sells. AuctionMapper works across all 20,000+ eBay categories: auto parts, watches, western saddles, diecast models, camera lenses, coins, clothing, handbags, sporting goods, musical instruments, and more. The category-specific filters adapt automatically — watch filters appear when browsing watches, auto parts filters appear when browsing auto parts, and so on.

Is it the same eBay inventory?

Yes. AuctionMapper searches the same live eBay listings you would find on eBay.com. Same items, same sellers, same prices. When you click through to buy, you complete the purchase on eBay with eBay's standard buyer protection.

Where does eBay's own Advanced Search still win?

eBay Advanced Search is better for sold/completed listing research, searching by specific seller, international item filtering, and saved searches with email alerts. AuctionMapper is better for browsing without a keyword, category-specific filters, total-cost sorting, and discovering which categories have results for a given search term.

How much does AuctionMapper cost?

Free. AuctionMapper has always been free to use. It earns affiliate commissions when users purchase through eBay links, but search results are never altered or biased by this. See our affiliate disclosure and terms of service linked below for details.

How long has AuctionMapper been around?

Since 2004. Originally a Flash-based eBay map-search tool that pre-dated Google Maps. Went offline at the end of 2020 when Flash was phased out, then rewritten on modern technology and brought back online in summer 2025.

Is AuctionMapper available outside the US?

Yes. AuctionMapper supports all eBay global marketplaces including the US, UK, Germany, France, Australia, Canada, Italy, Spain, and others.
