AuctionMapper · eBay comparison worksheet
Cartier watch price: separate models before comparing eBay results
Method reviewed · Sold-price evidence is labeled per row.
A Cartier watch price search should begin with model, size, material and movement. Tank, Santos, Panthere and Crash results do not belong in a single resale average. This worksheet helps choose a comparison set and shows where sold-price evidence is missing instead of supplying an invented range.
Compare sold results with active listings
Both searches update as you type. Check the condition and year in each result; keywords alone do not enforce those matches.
Affiliate links: AuctionMapper may earn a commission if you buy through these links. Sold results can hide accepted-offer amounts; active prices are seller requests or current bids.
Optional active-listing snapshot. No sold prices are fetched.
Comparison groups by reference, year and condition
For an everyday purchase, choose the model and fit first. Then match the complete reference and movement type, including any battery or service needs. A rare collectible should be researched separately from a broad entry-level search. Use the dedicated Crash worksheet when that is the actual model you want.
These are comparison groups, not appraisals. A row marked Not verified means we have no reviewed sold-price sample for it. Missing evidence is not a zero price or proof that nothing sold.
| Reference or size / year | Condition and comparison boundary | Observed sold-price band | Research links |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tank, exact reference and movement Match full reference, case size and documented year. | Record case finish, strap, buckle and running condition. Keep quartz and mechanical variants separate; exclude parts. | Not verified No reviewed sold sample. No dollar band published. | Sold results: Tank, exact reference and movementSearch AuctionMapper: Tank, exact reference and movement |
| Santos, exact reference Match full reference, material and documented year. | Inspect bezel, bracelet, clasp and supplied links. Do not compare different sizes or materials as one price band. | Not verified No reviewed sold sample. No dollar band published. | Sold results: Santos, exact referenceSearch AuctionMapper: Santos, exact reference |
| Panthere, exact reference Record complete reference and evidence for the stated year. | Check bracelet fit, case wear and documented working condition. What moves the price comparison
- Size and movement
- Model names alone do not establish case size or movement. Record both from the actual listing, and ask for clarification when photographs and text disagree.
- Bracelet fit
- A bracelet that does not fit can create a real additional cost. Ask for measured circumference and included links; do not assume a photograph shows all supplied parts.
- Customization and maintenance
- Aftermarket stones, refinishing and unresolved running problems should be disclosed before comparison. Keep any inspection, battery or service allowance separate from the seller price.
How to read an individual listing
- Request the exact reference and dimensions rather than choosing from a generic model title.
- Confirm movement type, operating condition and available service evidence in writing.
- Compare total delivered cost and return terms. Check authentication eligibility on the specific listing rather than assuming every Cartier qualifies.
Red flags before you compare or buy
- An aftermarket customized watch compared directly with a factory configuration.
- A non-running watch used to advertise the starting price of a working model.
- A value-retention promise unsupported by a dated comparable sample.
How to build a defensible sold-price band
- Choose one reference or size, a documented year group, material and condition. Record the search, marketplace, currency and date window.
- Inspect the underlying sold results. Exclude parts, replicas, mismatched models, repeated listings and results whose actual accepted-offer price is hidden. Completed alone also includes unsold results.
- Record the visible item price separately from shipping and other costs. Keep uncertain transactions out of a verified band and explain why they were excluded.
- Show the reviewed sample count, observed minimum and maximum, date range, check date and method. A small sample is a limitation, not a reason to invent a smoother estimate.
Active listings describe what sellers request or current bids. They do not establish sold value. Even a sold listing is an observation, not independent confirmation of authenticity or a settled payment. A search link alone is not the evidence behind a price band.
For a buying budget, add quoted shipping and any applicable tax, import, inspection, repair or service costs separately. Keep unresolved costs labeled; do not silently treat them as zero.
Questions buyers ask
How do I compare Cartier watches under 5,000 dollars if resale matters?
Treat that number as a budget, not a claim about current availability or future value. Choose a reference and condition, then compare delivered cost and documented sold observations. This worksheet has no verified price band or retention forecast.
Does a Cartier Crash watch price describe other Cartier watches?
No. Crash is a separate model and requires reference-specific research. Do not use its asking prices to value a Tank, Santos or Panthere. Each group needs its own comparable observations.
