AuctionMapper · eBay comparison worksheet
AP watch price: Audemars Piguet models need separate comparisons
Method reviewed · Sold-price evidence is labeled per row.
An AP watch price search is too broad to produce a single meaningful resale number. Audemars Piguet model families, complications, case materials and condition levels can differ substantially. Select the family first, then narrow to the full reference. Every sold-price band below is explicitly unverified.
Compare sold results with active listings
Both eBay US searches update as you type. Check the condition and year in each result; keywords alone do not enforce those matches.
Affiliate links: AuctionMapper may earn a commission if you buy through these links. Sold results can hide accepted-offer amounts; active prices are seller requests or current bids.
Optional active-listing snapshot. No sold prices are fetched.
Comparison groups by reference, year and condition
Use this page to choose a comparison route, rather than averaging the whole brand. A broad active search helps identify a model you like; the next step is to copy its complete reference into both sold and active searches. Do not treat the cheapest result as the entry price until you have excluded parts, replicas and incomplete watches.
These are comparison groups, not appraisals. A row marked Not verified means we have no reviewed sold-price sample for it. Missing evidence is not a zero price or proof that nothing sold.

What moves the price comparison
- Model and complication
- Time-only, chronograph and other complication listings answer different searches. Record the function and reference rather than assigning a generic AP value.
- Service uncertainty
- A working-watch claim is not a service record. Ask what was tested and what documents support the claim; unresolved work belongs in your budget notes, not in an invented discount percentage.
- Completeness
- Box, documents, straps and links should be recorded individually. A complete-set claim is only useful when you know exactly what is included and whether it matches the watch.
How to read an individual listing
- Spell out Audemars Piguet in searches to reduce irrelevant AP matches, then add the complete reference.
- Compare materials and dimensions from the listing with its photographs and documentation. Ask for clarification where the records disagree.
- Keep the final item price, shipping, taxes and any planned service as separate entries so the total is understandable.
Red flags before you compare or buy
- A brand-wide average used to justify a particular rare reference.
- A low search price attached to a strap, box or part rather than a complete watch.
- Claims of guaranteed value retention or investment returns.
How to build a defensible sold-price band
- Choose one reference or size, a documented year group, material and condition. Record the search, marketplace, currency and date window.
- Inspect the underlying sold results. Exclude parts, replicas, mismatched models, repeated listings and results whose actual accepted-offer price is hidden. Completed alone also includes unsold results.
- Record the visible item price separately from shipping and other costs. Keep uncertain transactions out of a verified band and explain why they were excluded.
- Show the reviewed sample count, observed minimum and maximum, date range, check date and method. A small sample is a limitation, not a reason to invent a smoother estimate.
Active listings describe what sellers request or current bids. They do not establish sold value. Even a sold listing is an observation, not independent confirmation of authenticity or a settled payment. A search link alone is not the evidence behind a price band.
For a buying budget, add quoted shipping and any applicable tax, import, inspection, repair or service costs separately. Keep unresolved costs labeled; do not silently treat them as zero.
Questions buyers ask
Which watch brands hold value apart from Rolex and Patek?
Audemars Piguet is a brand to research at reference level, not a guaranteed value-retention category. Compare a specific watch with documented sold observations and ownership costs. This page provides the comparison structure, with no verified price band yet.
How should I compare watches and watch brands that hold value?
Keep purchase price, sale observations, selling fees and service costs separate. Compare the same reference and condition over a stated period. A broad brand search mixes too many different watches to establish retention.
